For Those About To (Really) Rock In Guitar Hero

The NAMM trade show is normally where all the new guitar product news comes from, but computer peripheral maker SoundTech showed off an interesting gadget at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. Called Ediface, it converts the analog signal from a guitar into a MIDI signal that you can then run into a computer for use in your favorite sound editing software.

That’s plenty cool, but the company is touting the device as a way for real guitar players to get in the action of Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Ediface can be programmed so that certain notes correspond to the button commands on the normal game controller so you can rock out in the game with your favorite Gibson, Strat, or mutt guitar.

Of course, what if you don’t really rock on guitar?
